I recently opened a Facebook message from a friend. There was a connection to view an incident of a young man who was being bullied. He finally had enough and reacted. This clip went viral as they say. What was amazing to me was the response from around the world. Many people cheered for the boy who stood up for himself, though he could have seriously injured the other lad. It triggered several thoughts in my mind. As a society we have pushed the anti-bullying agenda in schools. There are still just as many bullies, dare I say even more. Then my thoughts led me to wonder, is it just a ‘kid’ thing. Webster defines a bully this way- “a quarrelsome, overbearing person who badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people; to intimidate or terrorize; to be loudly arrogant and overbearing”. We see this every day in some form or another. When one person crashes into another’s personal space and takes away their freedom to be what God created them to be, isn’t that a bully? We see this behavior on the roads, in stores, in marriages, at work, in those who govern. Has it becomes less common or more common? I believe it to be more common. Which proves to me at least that morality can’t be legislated. It is a heart issue. Some who read this may not believe in the idea of sin. Those might suggest we just need to educate people more. Has that worked? The Bible says the heart is deceitfully wicked, who can comprehend it. But it also gives an answer. Jesus came to set us free from not only the burden of sin but the bondage of sin. When we accept Him as redeemer, He fills us with His Spirit. He helps us to be loving and kind, instead of selfish and pushy. I’ve seen lives transformed. Have you seen lives transformed without God?
