Honor your father and your mother, so that it may go well with you (Exodus 20:12). Mother’s day should be just a reminder that we should honor our mothers every day. No, our mother’s weren’t perfect but then neither are we. Some of you may have been abandoned, some abused, and some had wonderful mother’s. My encouragement is to find some way, in heart and action to show honor, in spite of the situation you have come from. Having said that, I want to honor both my mother and my wife’s mother. Both did their best to raise us up. Both are strong women. Both have giftings which they have developed and used. Both have been examples for us. But the biggest gift to us has been the character they tried to pass on to us. So to our mother’s I thank and bless you. Some in our society have suggested character doesn’t matter. What I do in private doesn’t effect my community presence. I would beg to differ. The Bible tells us that a good name is worth more than wealth. It is the best inheritance. If you have this inheritance guard it and grow it. If you haven’t had this training, you can still go after it. The Lord, through his Spirit, will grow in you Godly character. Blessings on all you moms on this mother’s day!
